One of the most exciting aspects of my role at the National Geographic Society is the opportunity to work directly with explorers who are actively researching and protecting our planet’s water, natural habitats, endangered species, and so much more. For this project, I collaborated with Rodrigo Medellín, a National Geographic Explorer based in Mexico. He is in the process of launching a nonprofit dedicated to the protection and preservation of wild big cats throughout South America—and he needed a logo.
Rodrigo provided the name “Global South Cats,” and from there, we held several meetings to discuss the organization’s mission and goals. To deepen my understanding, I researched similar programs in the field. After conducting further research and design analysis, I began sketching and developing various logo concepts. Through multiple iterations and discussions, I not only gained a greater appreciation for big cats but also helped Rodrigo finalize a logo that represents his organization’s vision. This project has been especially meaningful to me, and I look forward to creating more assets for Rodrigo’s team as their needs continue to grow!
