Explorers Festival is an annual event hosted by the National Geographic Society, bringing together National Geographic Explorers, researchers, storytellers, and members of the broader community to celebrate the work and discoveries that illuminate and protect our world.
Each year, the event presents an opportunity to create a new visual identity and marketing system. I began the process by exploring what Explorers Festival truly represents—not simply a gathering, but a celebration of the people, ideas, and shared sense of purpose behind the work of National Geographic.
This led me to the concept of “The Thread That Ties Us Together.”
This concept invokes how Explorers Festival brings people together and how attendees are connected through their shared commitment to illuminating and protecting the wonder of our world. It is visualized by a thread with
the colors of the Society’s flag, which represent different features of exploration: blue for the sky, brown for the land and green for the sea.
The thread weaves its way throughout the event, and it is
never-ending, symbolizing the relentless work of
National Geographic Explorers.
